The members of Bylaws Committee review proposed bylaws changes to the Society bylaws and report its recommendations to the Board of Directors. They monitor the contemporary suitability of the Bylaws and recommends revisions when appropriate. The committee drafts language to achieve proposed bylaws changes. | |
Committee Term: | Members-at-large serve three (3) consecutive years upon appointment; Chairperson can serve either two (2) consecutive years or (3) consecutive years, depending on when they were named to the chair role. |
Committee Size: | Maximum of 3 total, including 2 members at large and one chairperson. |
Rotation Schedule: | 1/1/1 (2024: 1; 2025: 1; 2026: 1; 2027: 1; 2028: 1; 2029: 1) |
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Minimal time required and based on whether there are bylaw revisions or changes being proposed within the year.
- If there are bylaw revisions or changes proposed, this committee is charged with reviewing these updates and providing recommendations to the Board of Directors. Recommendations can be as simple as an agreement with the proposals or more complex to include suggested draft revisions.
- Monitors the contemporary suitability of the Bylaws and recommends revisions when appropriate.
- Drafts language to achieve proposed bylaws changes.
Time Commitment:
- Most of this committee’s work is conducted via email.
- Virtual conference calls as needed.
Qualifications:
- All members, except those in the International category, are eligible to serve as committee members at large.
- Chairperson must be an AOSSM Active Member.
