The Traveling Fellowship Program offers a rich experience with opportunities to foster an exchange of scientific information, stimulate research, and develop friendships among physicians who practice sports medicine in North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin American countries.
This unique three-to-four-week immersion at five-to-six international sports medicine centers, time with regional experts, patient encounters, operating room observation, scientific endeavors, sharing cases, and recreation. Accompanied by a senior orthopaedic sports medicine specialist, or Godparent, these tours consist of three emerging leaders in orthopaedic sports medicine.
Hosts are encouraged to use their creativity to plan a unique and exciting experience. The host is encouraged to group host with several institutions in one area to share responsibilities and reduce costs. Group hosting also provides two tours in your city simultaneously, adding to the diversity and vibrancy of hosts and fellows' academic and social interaction.
AOSSM partners with the Asia-Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Society (APKASS), the European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), and the Sociedad Latinoamericana de Artroscopía, Rodilla y Deporte (SLARD) to alternate travel to Asia-Pacific, Europe, or Latin America. In alternate years, fellows from those regions travel to North America.
AOSSM gratefully acknowledges Enovis for their continued support of the Traveling Fellowship program.
