Bruce Reider, MD, Scholarship Awardee Announced

In honor of Dr. Bruce Reider’s 20th anniversary as the Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Sports Medicine, the Bruce Reider, MD, Scholarship was announced during Dr. Kurt P. Spindler’s 2022 Presidential Address, “AOSSM—A Championship Team.” The 2023 AOSSM Annual Meeting marks the inaugural year for the scholarship.

Executive Editor and Editor-in-Chief Bruce Reider, MD, announced Clayton Del Prince, MD, a fellow at UCLA Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, as the first awardee. Dr. Del Prince has a deep interest in writing, reviewing, and scholarly publishing as a key fixture in his forthcoming career path. Please join us in congratulating Clayton Del Prince, MD, in receiving this scholarship.

The Bruce Reider, MD, Scholarship is open to U.S. sports medicine fellows with a strong interest in journal peer review and publishing. It will be awarded annually and presented at the Medical Publishing Group Dinner. Applications for 2024 will be open January–March 2024.

The AOSSM Masters competition celebrates luminaries who present an innovation or technology that has provided high-end and far-reaching impact to their patients. The Masters Competition will be on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., in the Keystone Theater of the Exhibit Hall. Dr. Matt Provencher was the 2022 Red Jacket winner. Research Workshop at 2023 Annual Meeting

For many AOSSM members, grant writing and research is now an integral part of your practice and may be an expectation of your institution.

The AOSSM Research Committee presents a two-hour research workshop that addresses the needs of both junior, as well as more senior, surgeons. The workshop will be divided into two, one-hour sessions. The first hour will include a panel discussion with representatives from various funding agencies (NIH, DOD, Arthritis Foundation). The second hour will focus on career progression and developing your research career in early practice.
