Bruce Reider, MD

Dear AJSM Community,

I recently informed the AOSSM Medical Publishing Board of Trustees that I intend to step down from my position as Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Sports Medicine at the end of 2024. I plan to continue in my roles as Editor-in-Chief of the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine and host of the Easy Reider podcast. The Medical Publishing Board of Trustees and the AOSSM Board of Directors will work together to conduct a search process in the coming months to identify the individual who will become the fourth person to head AJSM, and we will work together to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.

In December, I will have completed 23 years at the helm of AJSM. It has been a privilege to fill this role in the service of the world orthopaedic sports medicine community and the patients whom we serve. I cannot adequately thank the countless authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and editors whose passion and dedication combine to make AJSM a trusted source of knowledge in clinical and translational sports medicine research, but I will attempt to do so more fully during the course of the year.
