Exclusively offered to AOSSM early career members, BOLD is a two-year leadership development program designed to empower, elevate, and connect the next generation of sports medicine surgeons.

In partnership with Great on the Job, BOLD assembles rising sports medicine surgeons for a two-year cohort experience. Led by Jodi Glickman, an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern University and former Wall Street executive, the program offers executive leadership education, one-on-one executive coaching, mentorship and collaborative projects to develop your leadership capacity and strategic vision.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to immerse yourself in a transformational experience that will challenge you to think bigger and bolder, show up every day as the leader you aspire to be, and impact the world around you.
What You Can Expect
The program will kick off at the 2025 AOSSM Annual Meeting in Nashville, TN on Wednesday, July 9. Playmakers will graduate in July 2027.
Live Learning: Leadership workshops (4 hours) will take place at the AOSSM Annual Meetings in 2025, 2026, and 2027, the AAOS Annual Meetings in 2026 and 2027, and the AOSSM Board Meeting in November 2026. |
Virtual Learning: Virtual leadership sessions spanning 90-120 minutes will take place throughout the two-year experience. |
Executive Coaching: Playmakers will engage in one-on-one coaching sessions with executive, professional coaches. |
Group Projects: Playmakers will collaborate on a group project to challenge, engage, and support each other’s learning and development. |
Mentorship: Playmakers will engage in mentorship opportunities with seasoned AOSSM members. |
Engagement with AOSSM: Engage with AOSSM leaders who are invested in your success, growth, and wellbeing. Join an esteemed BOLD alumni – peers invested in your growth and development who will become lifelong friends. |
Eligibility & Application
Active or Candidate members who have been in practice for 10 or less years are eligible to apply. Please note that fellows and residents are not eligible.
Application requires responses to five open-ended questions plus submission of a CV and two letters of recommendation.
Time Commitment
Playmakers are expected to attend all live learning and virtual programming and be an active and engaged participant for the other components. Dates for the live and virtual sessions will be provided at least three months in advance of each session. Please do not apply for this program if you are unable to invest this time.
BOLD Program Tuition
Tuition Includes:
- Access to all live and virtual learning and executive coaching
- Airfare and lodging for the 2026 AOSSM Board meeting
- All educational materials
- Food and beverage at all live courses
- Access to social events
- Additional alumni benefits
Playmakers are responsible for:
- Individual travel costs to live learning (except for the 2026 AOSSM Board meeting)
- Housing during in-person sessions (except for the 2026 AOSSM Board meeting)
- Registration fees for annual meetings
Tuition:
- One-time payment of $1500 payable upon acceptance into the BOLD program.
- Tuition is nonrefundable.
