About the Scholarship

This scholarship provides orthopaedic surgery residents with a unique opportunity to attend the AOSSM Annual Meeting, giving them opportunity to deepen their understanding of sports medicine as a specialty, meet industry leaders, and establish connections with potential mentors. The scholarship is open to any US-based orthopaedic surgery resident in their third, fourth or fifth year of training (excluding time spent in research) who is in good academic standing and has a deep interest in sports medicine. Applicants must be Resident Members of AOSSM. This membership is free – apply now to be considered for the scholarship.

Scholarship recipients receive:

  • Full AOSSM Annual Meeting registration and an airfare/lodging stipend of $1,000
  • One-on-one mentorship with an Early Career Member to provide valuable perspective and guidance throughout the meeting
  • Access to exclusive special events to enhance the experience and exposure at the Annual Meeting, including the Residents & Fellows Forum, Lunch Networking with Early Career Members, and Thursday Night Lights Social.

Application deadline is April 15, 2025. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mid-May.

Applications require submission of a 300-word personal statement that describes your interest in sports medicine, a copy of your CV and a letter of recommendation from your residency program director.

Applicants will be selected based on strength of their personal statement, strong endorsement from the program director and overall impression of your CV to include research experience, abstracts/publications, volunteerism and leadership initiatives/opportunities.
