Applications are open for the Catalyst™ sports medicine research mentorship program. This new collaboration between the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons will help develop the next generation of sports medicine-focused clinician scholars. Catalyst™ is a first-of-its-kind, research mentorship program that will provide a longitudinal educational experience encompassing online learning and direct access to senior research leaders to hone necessary skills and advance the participants’ careers.
This unique program is designed for motivated professionals with 2-7 years in clinical practice looking to expand their familiarity with research design, building a collaborative research team, and developing the skills necessary to make meaningful contributions to the state-of-the-art in sports medicine-related research.
Over 18 months, cohort members will complete an intensive online, self-paced curriculum (LearnORS) and be mentored throughout by a senior surgeon with extensive research experience. The group will meet virtually on a bi-monthly basis for topic-based discussions led by accomplished clinician scientists, and in-person to discuss progress, troubleshoot challenges, and further a spirit of collaboration among like-minded professionals. At the conclusion of the program, mentees will finalize a competitive funding proposal suitable for submission to federal funding mechanisms.
The Catalyst™ Program is grateful to the Orthopaedic Research Society for their generous support and access to the LearnORS platform.

Applications are due by May 29 and program will start July 1, 2025.
