The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) is proud to announce the launch of Strive for Five: Securing the Future of AOSSM, a landmark campaign to raise $5 million in support of research, education, and innovation that will shape the future of sports medicine.
One of the Society’s most ambitious philanthropic initiatives to date, Strive for Five reflects AOSSM’s commitment to advancing musculoskeletal science, developing future leaders, and accelerating discoveries that improve the care of athletes and active individuals worldwide.
As sports medicine continues to evolve through advances in biologics, surgical innovation, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimization, the need to invest in physician education and high-quality research has never been greater. Funds raised through the campaign will support innovative research grants, career development scholarships for early career orthopaedic surgeons, educational programs, and initiatives that translate scientific discovery into better patient care.
“Sports medicine continues to evolve at an extraordinary pace, and it is our responsibility to ensure that innovation never slows,” said AOSSM President Rick W. Wright, MD. “Through Strive for Five, we are making a bold investment in the future of our field. Together, we have the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.”
For more than five decades, AOSSM has led the advancement of sports medicine through education, research, advocacy, and collaboration. Strive for Five builds on that legacy by expanding the Society’s ability to support groundbreaking research, educate future leaders, and advance the highest standards of patient care.
“Strive for Five represents one of the most important investments in AOSSM’s future,” said AOSSM Chief Executive Officer Corey Parker, MPA. “This campaign will expand opportunities for discovery, strengthen physician education, and equip the next generation of sports medicine leaders with the resources they need to advance our profession. Every contribution is an investment in healthier futures for the patients and communities our members serve.”
Initially introduced as a soft launch in January 2025, Strive for Five officially launched publicly during the 2026 Annual Meeting in Seattle. As of July 10, 2026, more than $2.5 million has been donated or pledged toward the campaign's $5 million goal, with fundraising continuing through December 31, 2029. Members, industry partners, and supporters are invited to invest in the future of sports medicine through a variety of giving opportunities, including the Champions Circle for leadership gifts of $50,000 or more.
