AOSSM is proud to announce the 2025 Hall of Fame inductees: Annunziato (Ned) Amendola, MD, Kurt P. Spindler, MD, and Letha Y. Griffin, MD, PhD. Each of these distinguished physicians has made a lasting impact on the field of orthopaedic sports medicine and has contributed significantly to the growth and excellence of AOSSM.

Annunziato (Ned) Amendola, MD
Dr. Ned Amendola currently serves as Executive Vice Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University and is a Past President of AOSSM (2016–2017). He is widely recognized for his contributions to sports medicine education, leadership, and international collaboration. A recipient of the George D. Rovere Award and the Robert E. Leach Leadership Award, Dr. Amendola has shaped the direction of AOSSM through his involvement in traveling fellowships, research, and mentorship. His commitment to athlete care, both at the institutional and global level, exemplifies the Society’s highest values.

Kurt P. Spindler, MD
Dr. Kurt Spindler is Associate Chief Clinical Research at the Cleveland Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Past President of AOSSM (2013–2014). He was recently appointed Chair of the AOSSM Publishing Advisory Board. Renowned for his extensive research contributions, Dr. Spindler has helped shape evidence-based care in sports medicine through his leadership with the Multicenter Orthopaedic Outcomes Network (MOON) and the Metrics of Orthopaedic Surgical Treatment (MOST) group. His dedication to advancing orthopaedic knowledge and improving patient outcomes has left a profound mark on both the Society and the broader orthopaedic community.

Letha Y. Griffin, MD, PhD
Dr. Letha Griffin was the first woman to join AOSSM and remains a pioneer in orthopaedic sports medicine. Based in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia, she has served as a team physician for Georgia State University for over 35 years and held numerous leadership roles across sports and dance communities. Dr. Griffin has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and edited several landmark texts on ACL injury prevention. Her trailblazing career has inspired generations of women in orthopaedics, and her decades of service to AOSSM—including participation on 22 committees—reflect a lifelong dedication to excellence in the field.
