AOSSM Advocacy

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), led by the Committee on Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy, works with government relations staff to identify priorities, draft responses - testimony or official comments - to proposed legislation or regulation and communicate to the AOSSM membership and leadership regarding those priority issues.

Committee on Legislative & Regulatory Advocacy

The Committee on Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy is charged with monitoring and responding to federal and state legislation or regulation that affects the practice of sports medicine. The Committee works with government relations staff to identify priorities, draft responses - testimony or official comments - to proposed legislation or regulation and communicate to the AOSSM membership and leadership regarding those priority issues through board reports, regular columns in SMU, oral reports to the Council of Delegate. The Committee serves as the Society's liaison with its counterparts from other organizations and coordinates the Society's response to issues.

The committee's charge does not include commenting on insurance coverage proposals or decisions.
