Conclusion

Sports orthopaedic surgeons can
partner with the above or other injury
surveillance systems to build research
and practice outreach opportunities.
Many of these databases are available
online and most have helpful,
interested directors and staff which
are available to assist you with your
research queries and interest. Injury
surveillance is playing a significantly
increased role in prioritizing the
financial, administrative, and clinical
priorities of sports medicine and
sports orthopaedics. Partnering
with a local school system or other
organization to implement injury
surveillance programs can serve
as a practice builder by helping
those entities address medical/legal
concerns, administrative issues,
streamline athletic training care and
position you as a knowledgeable
partner in providing high quality
medical care for athletes.
